These structures need to be able to expand easily and slide over each other, otherwise we feel stiff and cranky.

Many of us, however, fall short of the recommended daily intake, leading to fatigue, sluggishness, aches and pains, and even headaches. By embarking on this challenge, you'll be one step closer to optimal hydration and all the amazing benefits that come with it.


You may be thinking, "But, I don't get thirsty. Surely, my body will tell me when I'm dehydrated?" Yes and no. If your body is used to not being hydrated, it kinda gives up trying to tell you - you're surviving! So, my reply would be, "What if you could feel (and look) even better? What if you could thrive instead of survive?"

The rules are simple – commit to drinking a designated amount of water each day for a set period. You can start with a manageable goal and gradually increase the intake as you progress. Start simply with one extra tall glass of water per day and drink it alongside something you already have, or do. This is known as 'habit-stacking', which helps you to remember to do things and will eventually become a habit itself. You could try this first thing in the morning, with a meal or snack, or while you're in a meeting.


Example 3: Start Counteracting.

If you tend to drink a lot of tea or coffee throughout the day (or alcohol in the evenings), add a glass of water at the same time. You can either alternate between sipping each drink, or have the water before or after each cuppa. Eventually, you could go one better by substituting one or more other drinks with a nice glass of water.


Example 4: Keep it Visible.

You could have a re-usable bottle of water with you at all times and either sip or gulp (depending on your preference) throughout the day. If you finish the bottle, well done! Repeat tomorrow and then start to make your way through a refilled second bottle. Not only is the water bottle a visible reminder, but you can also visibly track how much you're drinking!
